A long-time resident of Fredericton, Catherine Hale’s career as an artist is distinguished by her use of found objects and non-traditional art materials to create assemblages and sculptural and fabric works. Her artworks illuminate her interest in feminism, politics, the Gothic art period, and the influence of favourite poets and writers.
She was a founding member of Gallery Connexion, now Connexion ARC. Her work gained notoriety with a solo exhibition, ‘Between the Spirit and the Dust’ curated by Terry Graff at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery In 2011.
That same year Gothic Matriarch, an Indie Art Documentary was made in historical significance and to honour the accomplishments local 84 year old Fredericton, NB visual artist, Catherine Hale.
