Christine Lavoie is a professional artist specializing in sculptural ceramics and ancient firing techniques, such as raku and smoke firing.

She was raised in Rivière-Verte, a small village situated at the juncture of New Brunswick, Quebec and Maine. In her childhood, she learned the importance of living in harmony with the Earth, of the absolute force of nature, and the universal energy that transcends us all.

While she doesn’t claim to be of First Nations’ heritage, she embraces their cultural practices that are based on the respect of nature and of each other, which brings her closer to her own roots and even forms part of her art.

After a decade of work as a cultural planner in two provincial capitals (Regina in Saskatchewan, and Halifax in Nova Scotia), she founded in 2011 the firm Atelier Imagine & Consulting, where she is presently working to promote Acadian artists abroad. Furthermore, every spring, she operates her family’s maple grove, the Lavoie Maple Sugar House, fabricating and marketing maple products. That is how she reconciles, with harmony, an ongoing connection with nature, practical life and the creative realm.

Her studio is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where she lives with her husband Gabriel, who also assists her in the raku firing process.
