Francois Trottier

Francois Trottier was born in Montreal in 1953. His father, the artist Roger Trottier, graduated from L'Ecole du Meuble de Montreal during the "Refus Global" period.

As a self-taught artist, he has been painting with passion since 1975; but he really decided to approach this second career in 2000, parallel to the first one, acting. He then opened up to the idea of presenting his artwork in galleries: two solo exhibitions in 2002 and 2003 in Montreal proved to be a great success. Since then, several interesting projects are presented to him, among which some in Toronto, Boston, and in other American cities.

His work materializes and is then transformed into passion with the certainty that a kind of paternal guide shows him the way, being inspired mainly by these thoughts, which can be freely interpreted:

The colour defines emotions
The concrete is painted in an abstract and coloured way
The colour in form and in mood

For him, the important thing is not to seduce but to approach life and all that is attached to it. This freedom is drawn; it lies down on the whiteness of a virgin canvas. To lead the dialogue, to cause the exchange, to open up to the world, this language crosses all borders. Painting, as a deliberate choice, is a means to freedom of expression without limits ...

His works are part of many private collections throughout Canada and the United States.
