Peter Cunningham

Peter Cunningham is a resident of rural York Region who was born and raised in Ireland. He spent his formative yedars in a small fishing village on the shores of Mourne's green and fertile kingdom. This rich pastoral landscape nestles between a dramatic mountain range and the Irish Sea. This setting, with all of the historic and cultural heritage, excited and inspired Peter to capture its dynamic beauty in living colour.

Peter's works have been widely exhibited and sold in galleries throughout Central and Southern Ontario, and are also on permanent exhibition in Ireland, Peter's favourite subjects are local landscapes, golf course settings, and vacation properties in Haliburton and the Muskokas. He uses nature's rich pallet to paint a series of unique oils and watercolours, which capture the richness and diversity of his settings. Each re-mastered original painting captures a special moment in time, which enables the viewer to step into the landscape and savour the intimate beauty of the landscape.

In Peter's own words, "My objective is to give life and emotion to subject matter that is visually gripping experimentation and discovery that keeps me challenged to explore the endless possibilities of painting. I begin with a dialog of light and shadow, incorporating opaque and transparent layers, which traqnsforms the painting into an original painting, which is sometimes realistic or sometimes abstraction. I hope you will enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed painting it."

Whether working with private individuals or public organizations, Peter has a reputation of pleasing his clients.
